Ľupča Castle
Cultural monuments reflect society development. Immovable monuments from the past are important component of the environment and positively form the cultural awareness of people. Our company has always shown pride of the heritage left behind by previous generations. The castle was purchased from the state in order to aid in its reconstruction and make it available to the general public. Hungarian King Bela IV founded Ľupča Castle in the 13th century. The castle has been built on a foothill of the Low Tatras. It served as a guard castle and controlled Via Magna, the important medieval trade path leading to the foothills by the castle. |
The Castle was known for visits by the monarchs, i.e. Bela IV., a founder, his son Stephen V., Charles Robert of Anjou, as well as legend-emblazoned Matthias Corvinus, whose name bears the linden tree at the entrance to the courtyard. Žigmund Luxemburský, one of the most important monarchs, who took a fancy to hunting and the region, visited the Castle very often. The Castle often changed owners during the subsequent Renaissance and Baroque period. Paul Rubigall, Gaspar Tribel and Francis Wesselényi Széchyi with Mary Széchyi, who took a fancy to the Castle, contributed to its reconstruction and invested a considerable amount of money.  
 
Today, the Castle is owned by Železiarne Podbrezová a. s. Visitors interested in the history are offered guided tours of the Castle along with professional commentary. At present, the opportunity to say Yes is being offered to brides and grooms in the newly restored rooms of Gizela Saloon. In the restored areas of the lower courtyards, it is possible to book social events in the historical interior. The operation able to arrange all kinds of services that can be arranged by agreement.
