A new COLD DRAWN tube mill opened in Transmesa
With the purpose to strengthen the position in the market
On 30 March 2015, the ribbon was cut at the newly built cold drawn tube mill at Transformaciones Metalúrgicas, S.A.U. (Transmesa), in the industrial polygon of the city of Arenys de Mar, Catalonia. Accompanied by José Manuela Soria, Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Vladimír Grácz, Slovak ambassador to Spain, Vladimír Soták, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. and other members of the Board of Directors of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s., the important event was also attended by Robert Fico, Slovak Prime Minister. He got acquainted with production of seamless tubes and profiles in the Spanish subsidiary of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s.
The main reason why the Board of Directors of ŽP a.s. decided to acquire the aforementioned Spanish companies was its effort to strengthen its positions in the field of manufacturing and supply of seamless hot rolled and cold drawn tubes to European and global markets. It is because Spanish companies require hot rolled tubes as inputs for their production and, at the same time, perform sale of the commodities in the Spanish market.
In the future, Železiarne Podbrezová will be able to provide almost one hundred percent of inputs for needs of both production companies in Spain. And, last but not least, one of final effects of this effort is also increase of employment in Slovakia.
